Child-like Joy

Today has been a joy-filled day for me.  The munchkins have been here and we have done a little bit of everything from creating Christmas cards to playing in the snow/ice.  I don't ever remember being out in the snow and being afraid I was going to slip and fall the entire time I was out there.  I soon discovered that if I marched instead of walked, the snow would cave in under my feet and I wouldn't slip.  The plastic sled worked better in this kind of snow than it ever worked in regular snow.  We had lots of fun sliding down the hills!

In talking about Christmas I asked the little ones if they had ever memorized the Christmas story from Luke 2.  I told them how I had learned it as part of a play in the 2nd grade and that I had never forgotten it.  I  encouraged them to try to memorize it.  They asked me, "why?"  I said, "because when you get old like me you won't be able to memorize anything!"

From Deuteronomy 11:
18 Fix these words of mine in your hearts and minds; tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. 19 Teach them to your children, talking about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. 20 Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates, 21 so that your days and the days of your children may be many in the land the LORD swore to give your ancestors, as many as the days that the heavens are above the earth.

Hope you enjoy a few scenes from my joyous day!

Prayer:  Thank you Lord for the joy children bring to our lives.
