A Spirit-filled Life Gives Hope

Dove with Blue Rays
From Joel 2:
12 “Even now,” declares the LORD, “return to me with all your heart, with fasting and weeping and mourning.”  13 Rend your heart and not your garments.  Return to the LORD your God, for he is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and abounding in love,

28 “And afterward, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your old men will dream dreams, your young men will see visions.  29 Even on my servants, both men and women, I will pour out my Spirit in those days.

For as far back as I can remember I have felt God's presence in my life.  When I was too young to comprehend spiritual things I thought that I must have had the strongest conscience in the world.  I didn't realize until later in early adulthood that it was a very strong sense of God's spirit at work in me.  It was the Holy Spirit that Joel prophesied about long long ago!  He always seems so near to me.

I can remember as alittle girl when I would get afraid at night in my bed I would reach out and hold His imaginary hand.  I would immediately feel comforted and go right to sleep.  Because there is still much child in me, I still do this occassionaly and guess what?  It still works!

I am so thankful that He has chosen to pour His Spirit out on us.  He will pour it out on anyone who follows the advice in Joel 2:  13 and 14.  He yearns to comfort all of us with His Spirit.  I can't imagine what my world would be without Him living inside of me.  It would be a lonely and scared existence!  It would be a hopeless existence!

During the hubbub of this season, don't forget to get still and quiet enough to hear His voice.

Prayer:  Lord I pray that those who don't know you will turn to you and accept your forgiveness, love and guiding Holy Spirit.
