Wise Men (and Women) Really Do Seek Jesus!

From Matthew 2:
1 After Jesus was born in Bethlehem in Judea, during the time of King Herod, Magi from the east came to Jerusalem 2 and asked, “Where is the one who has been born king of the Jews? We saw his star when it rose and have come to worship him.”

9 After they had heard the king, they went on their way, and the star they had seen when it rose went ahead of them until it stopped over the place where the child was. 10 When they saw the star, they were overjoyed. 11 On coming to the house, they saw the child with his mother Mary, and they bowed down and worshiped him. Then they opened their treasures and presented him with gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh.

There are different opinions among Bible Scholars about who the "Magi" were and I am not going to go there.  From the time we were children acting out the Christmas story in plays, we have known them as Wise Men.  I think that the best thing we can do is by-pass the scholarly discussions about their identities and stick with the Wise Men.  This is why I believe that they truly were "wise.:"

1)  They recognized Jesus as special.
2)  They studied to find out all they could about Him.
3)  They overcame many barriers to find Him.
4)  They offered Him the best they had.
5)  They worshipped Him for WHO he was.

Now, if we substitute the word I for they in the five reasons above would it be true?

I love the saying that I see from time to time that says "Wise Men Still Seek Jesus."  I think that pretty much says it all!

Prayer:  Grant us wisdom Lord to seek You and worship You for WHO you are and to give you our best.
