Hope For the Hopeless

Proverbs 13:12:
Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but a longing fulfilled is a tree of life."

Yesterday I focused on hope as desiring with confident expectation.  Today let's think about those who have lost all hope and expect things to get worse.

There are so many people around the world who live in such atrocious conditions, who are starving to death, enduring horrible diseases or treated in inhumane ways.  Most of our "civilized" minds can't (or don't want to) think about such conditions.

The broken and down trodden need a glimmer of hope.  What better way for us to honor Christ during this season than to reach out to help the helpless.  In these days when hearts and minds are caught up in gift giving and spending we can dig deep into our resources and give to a worthy cause.  Organizations like The Salvation Army, World Hunger, Foreign Missions, homeless shelters, food banks, etc.

How about we make a conscience decision today to GIVE.  Let's not ignore those bellringers!

Prayer:  God help us to not be so self-centered and give us a heart of compassion.
