Reflecting His Love

1 John 4:7-12

7 Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. 8 Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love. 9 This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. 10 This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. 11 Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. 12 No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us.

Christmas has a way of making people nicer.  We seem more loving and although we should act that way all year long, we certainly should during this season of Christmas.  After all, Christmas is the time we celebrate the perfect love God has for us.

God freely loves us.  He loves us unconditionally.  Because of this love He has for us, we, through Him, can love others.  He expects us to love others - even when they aren't very lovable.  That's the hard part!  So, how do we do it?

Verse 7 above says love comes from God.  So, we look to Him and continually ask Him to help us love others.  We will find that by looking at others through His eyes we will begin to love even the unlovable and they will see His love reflecting off of us.

Prayer:  Lord, we aren't very good at loving, so please help us learn to love like you love!
